The Black Buoy club exists to promote inland waterways cruising, by offering
moorings, maintenance and social facilities to its members.
Currently there are around 77 members with over 40 moored boats.
The moorings are located on both the towing path and off-side of the
Grand Union (Warwick & Birmingham) and run approximately from Bridge 69
(adjacent to The Black Boy public house) to the King's Arms public house just before
bridge 70. The club must be one of the few that has a pub at both ends of the moorings!
The objectives of the club are:
1. To promote Inland Waterways cruising.
2. To provide facilities to maintain craft in good order.
3. To maintain good liaison with Waterways Authorities.
4. To maintain the property and works provided by the Waterways Authorities.
5. To encourage social activities amongst members.
6. To provide and maintain moorings for members of the club.
Membership is subject to approval and acceptance by the committee. There are three types of membership:
1. Cruising member - being at least 18 years of age and the nominated owner of a craft acceptable to the committee.
2. Associate member - anyone over the age of 18 who is nominated by the cruising member of a craft.
3. Social member - any other interested person.
A copy of the BBCC rules will be sent to
prospective members to be read before application for
membership is considered by the committee.
Each craft may have a maximum of one cruising member and one associate member with other members as social members. The size of craft permitted at the site moorings is:
Maximum length 18.902m (62 feet)
Minimum length 4.877m (16 feet)
Maximum beam 2.134m (7 feet)

When our mooring space is full, new members who applying for a
mooring space will be placed on a waiting list.
The waiting list for moorings is serviced in strict order,
a mooring will be offered for the next boat on the list once there
is a sufficient length available on the club moorings.

Our mooring fee is set by the Canal & River Trust, it reflects their charges for moorings with similar
facilities in the area. You will not find many better value moorings in the Midlands.

All cruising and associate members are obliged
under the club rules
to undertake a minimum number of hours each year helping the administration of the club or the maintenance of the club facilities.
For 2025 the requirement is 12 hours. The easiest way is to attend at least six of the monthly working parties (Monday evenings in the summer months,
Sunday mornings otherwise - see our diary page.)
Members unable to attend working parties or for whatever reason requiring tasks to suit thier ability should contact one of the committee members to arrange
suitable activities to meet their obligation.
